Lighting design Tempodrom Berlin – the foyer

For the Tempodrom in Berlin, Felsch Lighting Design designed the lighting of the foyer. Large ring luminaires, linear light lines and coloured light scenes give the foyer a distinctive presence – in clear white for everyday use, in colour for events.

Lighting design Tempodrom Berlin: ring luminaires as landmarks in the space

The ring luminaires on the ceiling define the foyer. They hang above the stairs, the bar and the entrances. Linear light lines in the ceiling guide visitors through the space. Along the curved wall of the concourse, a warm light line accompanies the way.

Light scenes for every event

The lighting can be matched to the programme. In addition to white general lighting, coloured light scenes are possible, for example in red, green or violet. This lets the foyer pick up the mood of an event.

From 3D scan to installation

In April 2025 we 3D-scanned the existing foyer. This was followed by the design, lighting calculations and a luminaire schedule. Sample luminaires were reviewed and tested on a mock-up, followed by the bills of quantities for the tender. The lighting was installed in 2026.
