Luminaire development – custom luminaires and LED retrofits for your space

Not every lighting idea can be realised with catalogue products. For more than 20 years Felsch Lighting Design has developed custom luminaires for retail, hotels, churches and venues – from shelf and furniture lighting for shop concepts to large pendants for event halls. We guide luminaire development from design through prototype and photometry to production with our manufacturing partners.

Reuse instead of replace

What exists stays

Housings, holders, glass and reflectors are refurbished and upgraded with LED technology. Only what really has to be new is new.

In the same place

The luminaire returns to its position – without new fixings, openings or rerouted cables.

Functional and listed

In functional buildings such as pools, offices and halls, and in listed interiors where the appearance has to be preserved.

Less costly than new luminaires

Less material, less waste and lower cost than a full replacement – with today's light quality and efficiency.

Existing luminaires, new technology

Frequently asked questions on retrofitting

Is it worth upgrading existing luminaires?

Often, yes. Housing and fixing stay in place; mainly lamps, control gear and, if needed, reflectors are replaced. This saves material and installation work and is usually less costly than new luminaires.

Does this work in listed buildings?

Yes. That is where it matters most: the luminaire keeps its appearance while light quality and efficiency meet today's requirements. We agree the solution with the heritage authority.

What if a luminaire cannot be saved?

Then we rebuild it faithfully – with LED technology and as close as possible to the historic original.

Historic luminaires rebuilt with LED

For listed buildings, churches and existing buildings we faithfully replicate historic luminaires or convert them to LED – with today's light quality and efficiency, without changing their appearance.
